Aji Jobito Chilli Seeds (c.chinense)
Originally from Venezuela, South America. These produce a compact and bushy plant, at around 100 cm tall. There are one or more fruits per node. Fruits ripen from a light apple green to a sunny yellow colour. If you leave them on the plant, they turn a light orange colour.
Fruits hang pendant on the plant and resemble a Scotch Bonnet. Fruits are approximately 1.8 x 2 cm. These can be quite quick to produce fruit.
These are a very low heat, almost heatless chilli, with thick walls. You get all of the taste and none of the heat! Said to be the best tasting, heatless chilli.
Here is what Nigel Carter had to say - "This is the best tasting non-hot C.chinense I`ve ever eaten, bar none. A great looking pepper, to my eyes, and it is even better when you bite into it. The flavours are really sweet, rich and complex. There is a little C.chinense flavour mixed in there, too, but it isn`t strong. The aftertaste is very rich and nutty, like raw almonds or Brazil nuts. Almost oily, but in a great way. The sweetness of the pepper is also rich and reminiscent of dark brown sugar, Persimmons or Mamey sapote. Rich complex and delicious. There is no detectible heat at all. Who cares?!?!? If something tastes this good it does`t matter at all!"
