Bishops Crown (PI 497974) Chilli Seeds (c.baccatum)
Thought to hail from South America. Also known as, Balloon, Pimenta Cambuci, Campane, Monks Cap, Chapeau de Farde, Peri Peri, Ubatuba Cambuci, Aji Flor, and Christmas Bell. A fantastic variety that grows amazing shaped, deeply lobed fruits. Very similar to the Nepalese Bell, but smaller. Fruits ripen from a mid light green to orange and finally red.
Fruits are a low heat, very juicy, sweet and fruity. Fruits give a nice 'mouth tingle'. Makes an amazing powder. Fruits can measure approximately 6.5 x 5 cm.
Plants can grow to 150 cm tall and 80 cm wide or more. Flowers have the distinctive white and green/yellow markings. These can be quite early to fruit, and ripen quickly.
The PI number, simply refers to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Plant Index number under which the variety is listed.
