Cacho Negro Chilli Seeds (c.annuum)
Originally from Costa Rica and sharing it’s name with the Volcano in the Braulio Carrillo National Park, which stands at over 7500 feet. Plants grow to approximately 100 cm tall. Fruits grow pendant on the plant and ripen from green through dark green and to a glossy, brown colour.
Fruits are normally dried. Don’t be tempted to pick these too early. Wait for the stunning Chocolate brown colour. Fruits are lower end, medium hot. Almost completely heatless at the blossom end, with hints of plums and liquorice and intensely sweet. As you get toward the top of the fruit, the heat is released and builds slowly. A truly stunning tasting fruit even when fresh. A genuine favourite for flavour and heat. Imagine making a stunning, rich chocolate coloured chilli powder from these!
Fruit can reach 16 x 3cm. Fruits are a low heat. Flowers are large and white with a green tinge to the rear. Easy to grow and will happily grow outside in the UK climate.
Plant may need support due to the weight of the fruits.
