Chihuacle Negro Chilli Seeds (c.annuum)
Originally from southern Mexico. Plants grow to approximately 60 cm tall. Fruits grow pendant on the plant and ripen from green to a matt brown colour, with a leather feel. Fruits are normally dried. An intensely flavoursome chilli, used to make black moles, a speciality of the Oaxaca region of Mexico. Once dried they are said to have notes of dried plumb, chocolate and tobacco. If dried, lightly toast then re-hydrate to release the flavour. Fruit seems to start to air dry on the plant as they ripen. Fruits are a low heat.
Plant may need support due to the weight of the fruits.
